P-96S - service version chambered for 9×17 mm for private security agencies. Also adopted by the private security of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation and certain categories of employees of the Russian Post. In 2019, it was included in the list of weapons for judges. The first prototype was made in 1996. Production began in October 1998 and ended in December 2008. Some amount transferred to DOSAAF.
